| Provincial Fire Fighters Help Kick Off Swift Current's Minor Football Season
|
| May 16 2007 - Swift Current |
The Swift Current Fire Fighters along with representatives of the SPFFA, fire fighters from Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, North Battleford, Jim Lee (Assistant to the General President Canadian Operations), and Lorne West (District VP from Surrey) helped Swift Current Minor Football kick off the 2007 season. Over 150 boys and girls from grades 3 to 8 attended the event at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School.
There was a skill event where kids participated in kicking, throwing, receiving and running. The fire fighters helped track and record each boy or girls results. The results were evaluated at the end of the event and prizes were given out to the first place finisher in each event and age group. The prizes were donated from several businesses throughout Swift Current.
The fire fighters also had a BBQ going at the same time. The kids ate free, and donations were collected and given to the SPFFA Burn Fund. Various businesses in Swift Current donated the use of the BBQ, buns, condiments and juice. |
